Pastor Leon & Sharon Hiebert

Pastor Leon & Sharon Hiebert have faithfully served Generations Church since 1989. Being born and raised in Kansas, Pastor Leon attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri for a year before being led by God to join the US Navy. While stationed in San Diego, he met and married Sharon.

Sharon graduated from Zion Bible Institute in Providence, Rhode Island and was ministering in Layne's Home for Servicemen, San Diego, California when she and Leon met.

Leon served as a hospital corpsman with the Third Marine Division in Viet Nam. After a year back in California, Sharon and Leon were moved by the Navy to Kaneohe Marine Corps Station in Hawaii and then finished 10 years in the Navy at the Naval Station in Honolulu. Pastor Leon served for a short time on a church board in Okinawa, and then in Kailua, Hawaii where he attended a year of church schooling followed by a year teaching in that school. He also served as an assistant pastor of the Kailua Church. While still in the Navy, Leon & Sharon became pastors of Bayview Chapel A/G in Kaneohe, Hawaii where they served until moving to Kansas. The last two years in Hawaii Leon served as the District Youth Director. He has served as a presbyter in both Hawaii and Kansas.

Pastor Leon and Sharon have been married for over 40 years and have one son, Doron, and a granddaughter, Taelyn. Pastor Leon loves the snow, fishing, and long car trips. Sharon's passion is working with children. She heads up the church nursery and is also known as an amazing cook and seamstress.

Articles & Resources for Church Workers

  • Starting a Greeter Program
Four years ago I accepted the challenge of evangelism chairperson for our church. One of the first programs the pastor and I developed was the Sunday morning greeter program.
  • Motivating the Right Person into the Right Ministry
One of the greatest challenges for most leaders is selecting and motivating the right people into the right ministry positions in hopes of minimizing turnover and frustration. Even in the smaller church with limited personnel, it is important to coordinate people and ministry as much as possible.
  • “I TRIED, BUT NO ONE EVER CALLED ME”
“I tried, but no one ever called me” are painful words for a leader who has much work to do and not enough people willing to do it. These words are painful for the person who wanted to contribute, but was never called. These are also painful words for a person who is committed to helping people connect and contribute in meaningful ways within the church.
